In Bass I Trust Mixtape - Vol. 6

So, it's been a while since my last playlist... Did you miss me? ;)

There are some great new tracks in there from T.E.E.D. (I can't bring myself to write their name in full...), Objekt (quite possibly one of my favorite tracks this year so far) and Scuba (gotta <3 that 80's vibe!) and some not so new track but equally as good music from Made Up A Sound and dons of garage and dubstep, Horse Power Productions. The full tracklist can be found after the jump.

Siko Cell/ Knock Knock (and it's about time too)

If you've been hanging out in the right places over the past 6 months or so two tracks would definitely have fell graced your ears at some point. 'Knock Knock' and 'Sicko Cell' have been most certainly making me bust a groove on the dancefloors of London.

Jamie xx - From 'XX' to 'Far Nearer'

Jamie Smith, AKA Jamie xx AKA member of the band The XX, is a man after my own heart (although he may have to share it with David Kennedy...)

It took me a while to get around to listening to the XX's eponimous first album. Every time I turned on the radio, read a music blog, watched TV, there would be someone talking about The XX and how great they were and for a long time I resisted. I don't much like being told what's "cool" and what I should be listening to but eventually I caved and boy am I glad I did as to my surprise, the reports were true - it really was a great album. As a bass head the one thing that I didnt expect to hear was the heavy rumble of a baseline which weaved between the emotional vocals and guitar riffs in amongst various tracks. However in the coming months and after its release and hearing what Jamie was capable of on his own, it made absolute and complete sense... Jamie is a bass head too.

Mizz Beats - Level 0

There's not much to say about this track other than it is HEAVY.

Its a very stripped back track in which the bass does most of the talking and a simple electronic melody which nearly put me into a trance. The more I hear from Mizz Beats, the more I like which is why she featured on the very first In Bass I Trust Mixtape. She's signed to Deep Medi so I expect this one will drop soon via them but in the mean time I'm sure you'll be to hearing this one rattling walls in a club near you.

In Bass I Trust Mixtape - Volume 3

The ‘In Bass I Trust mixtape’ is back with Volume 3 and sounding pretty damn good in my opinion…

Buraka Som Sistema - 'Hangover (BaBaBa)'

I haven’t been an avid follower of these guys but their name will appear on my radar every once in a while whether it be on a gig line-up or mix-tape. This little beauty has just popped up and I’ve gotta say, I can’t get enough of it.

Valentine' by Jessie Ware and Sampha

After seeing him supporting Mount Kimbie at Heaven last week, I came across this little gem of a duet from Sampha and his Young Turks label mate Jessie Ware.

In Bass I Trust Volume 2 - The Easter Mixtape

The long Easter weekend is upon us people and I have another playlist for all you bass heads out there.

Falty DL – Brazil (Cairo's Falling Down Mix)

I have been caining FaltyDL’s latest album ‘You Stand Uncertain’ over the past few weeks in particular ‘Brazil’. As a child of garage it’s a stand out track on an album full of gems with it's luscious altered vocals and chilled out 2-step beat . If you’re not aware of FaultyDL’s work I wholly recommend you check out the Nuyorican’s ‘You Stand Uncertain’ and his previous album ‘Love is a Liability’ both great examples of how well garage, house and dubstep marry together.

Blawan - 'Getting Me Down'

Something very interesting popped up on my Facebook wall this morning…

This track has been doing the rounds in the clubs for some months now but there has been no mention of a release date and a clean version of the track doesn't seem to exist anywhere on the inter-web but it looks as though Blawan's 'Getting Me Down' is finally getting a release. I've been a fan of this track since I first heard it so as far as I'm concerned, this is VERY exciting news...

New Video: Omar and Zed Bias - Dancing

For anyone in the know, the idea of the legendary singer song-writer and garage producer joining forces should put a smile on your face. For those who don't, are likely to have heard Omar's dulcet tones at some point as his career spans over 15 years with his most successful and recognisable hit to date being the seductive 'There's Nothing Like This' (posted after the jump).

Wiley - Numbers In Action

Most of you will have seen the Wiley listening party video up on You Tube where he gave us a quick taster into what we should expect from his forth coming album '100% Publishing' out on Big Dada this summer (I've included the video below for those who haven't seen it yet).

Now, Big Dada have posted the video for the first single from the album titled 'Numbers In Action' up on their YouTube channel.

Hessle Audio presents '116 & Rising'

Most of you with the slightest interest in Hessle will already be rubbing your hands together in anticipation for this one (or is that just me?) since this news broke last week. Anyone who knows me will tell you of my love for Hessle Audio, in fact I like to consider myself a Hessle groupie. So imagine my excitement when I heard about this stonker of an album…

Silkie - City Limits Volume 1.6-1.8

This mix left me well and truly skankin’ in my chair at work this today. This mix comes fresh from Silkie Rose. Silkie is giving us a little taster from the upcoming album 'City Limits volume 1.6 -1.8' and boy will it leave you hungry for more. Starting off on a garage tip it soon takes a left turn into dubstep territory and ending on a bouncy summery vibe.

New on my radar: Kevin McPhee

So, for my very first (proper) blog post I'm going to get stuck in straight away :)

A new DJ/ producer has just come to my attention by the name of Kevin McPhee who is creating some incredibly ambient, bassy, melodic, percussive (I could go on) music with hints of Burial, James Blake and Mount Kimbie.

Kevin, based in Toronto Canada, already seems to be gaining some high praise from the folks on dub-step forum and his mixes for Sonic Router and Bass Music Blog definately made my otherwise grumpy Monday morning, a much happier one. I highly recommend downloading both.
